What’s In My Makeup Bag (right now)?
Although I own a ridiculous amount of makeup, what’s in my makeup bag is actually pretty simple. There are my staple every day products that I use over and over again, and then I might add in a few extras if I’m going somewhere fancy or feel like making more of an effort.
Here you will find my edit of my daily hero products…..
Primer
This is not a primer as such, but it is applied at what would be the primer stage of makeup - so first basically. It makes skin look so glowy and radiant (who doesn’t want that) and that’s why I love it. I apply Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter after my skincare routine and buff it in with a brush leaving gorgeous luminosity without disco spangle. I’ve got all the women in my family and my bezzie using this product as I rate it so much.
Foundation
On days when I’m not really going anywhere or maybe just going to watch the boys play sport, I wear Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation. As the name suggests, it’s barely there, but gives the skin a more even tone without looking like you have anything on. It also has SPF 30 so I also use this on holiday (remember those?). If I’m going to work or out out (remember those days too?? common theme developing here) I wear Suqqu Cream Foundation, which quite frankly is bloomin gorgeous. It’s like wearing a second skin, it’s soft, silky and dewy, but in a non greasy way, it’s simply beautiful. It’s also pricey but worth it and as I don’t wear it every day it lasts a long time. It now comes in a newly launched posher pot than mine.
Concealer
If I need any colour correction under my eyes I use Charlotte Tilbury Colour Corrector. in Fair patted on with my ring finger. Over the top of that I pop Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Concealer. This is non drying, long lasting with great coverage and blends like a dreamboat.
Bronzer
This is the one I come back to every time, Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel I get a full 18 months out of a pot which is pretty good going. It’s a cream consistency, (it) adds glow and radiance to your skin and gives you that sun kissed, but not over done colour. I even use it as eyeshadow sometimes on no makeup (makeup) days. It only comes in one shade though and so isn’t really suitable for darker skin tones which Chanel totally need to address!!
Powder
Now I do get oily on my forehead and down my nose, however my skin is also on the dehydrated side. So although I need to powder I defo do not want that floury finish!! This is one of my hero purchases of the year Hourglass Ambient Lighting Infinity Powder. It gives the most beautiful glowy finish with no chalkiness whatsoever leaving my base makeup perfectly set whilst retaining the dewiness (I like healthy glow not matte). It is expensive, but it will last me ages and if you do buy it through Space NK you can save your Indulge points to put towards it.
Blusher
This I do chop and change day to day and as someone who can suffer with a dull complexion, blusher is a game changer. So here are some of my favourites…..Glossier Cloud Paint in Cool Pink and Soft Peach depending on my mood. They are subtle and give a gorgeous rouge from within to the cheek. Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic which I love in Ecstasy, Pillow Talk and First Love . And last but by no means least, NARS is of course the Don of blushers, you can’t go wrong
Eyeshadow
I wear Mac Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork pretty much every day. It’s my absolute go to - lovely to sculpt and shape the eye with, in an almost not there way, but can also be built up as a stronger eye if the moods suits. It has a caramel tone with a slight sheen which can be applied with a finger or a brush. Super quick, super gorgeous.
Eye Pencil
It’s got to be Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal Liner. Although I have all four colours, Cocoa is the one I turn to daily. Perfect for smudging into the lashes in no liner kind of way to add definition around the eye, but also great for winging out and manipulating into your desired shape as it is so soft and blend-able. I wouldn’t be without it.
Mascara
I love mascara but have always had terrible smudging problems no matter what I use where unknowingly, by midday I look like Alice Cooper (not a great look). This is until I discovered this bad boy Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara. There is zero smudging and that’s a miracle coming from a serial smudger and it gives impressively full lashes with no crispiness.
Brows
Although I am an HD Brow Stylist and don’t get me wrong I do love their products, my go to items are from Benefit Gimme Brow & Precisely My Brow. Gimme brow is a volumising brow gel that also adds colour to the brow which is handy in-between your monthly tint. Precisely My Brow is a brow pencil that you can create natural hair strokes with where you have any annoying gaps in your brows.
Lips
During these maskathon times, for me lipstick just seems pointless and potentially a complete mess under that mask!! I do suffer from dry lips so always have to use lip balm and this baby is bloody lovely - Biossance Squalene & Rose Vegan Lip Balm. It’s non sticky, super moisturising thanks to the squalene and a real treat for the lips.
Now I know there are a fair few products here, but these are the treasures I buy time and time again and I wouldn’t be without. So I hope you find it helpful and if you have any burning questions about any of them please give me a shout.
And I hope you find my next blog about my battle with acne useful in some way.
Toodles for now
Big love
Emma xx
