Alternative Regenerative Clothing

Project Overview: The concept of ARC questions if clothes can be designed to carry an embodied narrative for wellbeing.  Garments are made from organic hemp, which allows the body to breath naturally, is biodegradable and environmentally regenerative.  Silhouettes are formed from geometric solids that allow sensory voids between the body and the outer fabric, they are loose, comfortable, transcend age, size, height and trend.

  • A natural and neutral colour palette was required for the make-up to support the ethos of the research. We wanted to create a “no makeup makeup” look which suited all ages.

Lessons

In keeping with the brief it was super important for the makeup to look effortless and timeless with a seamless finish to complement the garments the models were wearing. I wanted to keep the palette tonal to the models colouring to create an almost secret makeup look. The silhouettes of the clothing did the talking on this shoot so neutral washes of colour were key to my makeup design. I used a lot of Glossier products on this shoot to achieve the desired finish. Hero products were Solar Paint, Cloud Paint and Skywash lid tint.

“Emma created an amazing look for a fashion shoot that demonstrated clothing diversity.  She had a calm, confident and friendly approach when working with the models (aged 22 and 88 years old), she listened, offered reassurance and seemingly effortlessly created a perfect look.  She just knew, intuitively what message I was trying to convey through the makeup.  I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
